Ms. Shanahan began her legal career as the Assistant Director of Legal Services for the Indiana School Board Association. She subsequently served as Legal Counsel in Business Transactions, Real Estate and Franchise law for Burger Chef System, Inc., and then as International Legal Counsel to RCA Consumer Electronics in Business Transactions, Intellectual Property and United States and Canadian Trade Law and Regulation. Ms. Shanahan served as Secretary and General Counsel to Community Hospitals of Indiana, Inc. and as Secretary and General Counsel to Priority Healthcare, Inc.

In addition to her activities in the practice of law, Ms. Shanahan has served in a variety of executive leadership and business start up and operating roles with companies in the healthcare sector. She has participated as part of the senior management teams which have successfully started, built and sold 3 companies (Priority Health Care, Aetna Specialty Pharmacy and Oncology Therapeutics Network) with substantial financial returns to shareholders. She served as Senior Vice President for Ambulatory Services at Clarian Health & Hospitals in Indianapolis, Indiana and as Chief Administrative Officer of the Methodist Medical Group, a multispecialty group of more than 700 physicians. She was the Vice President for Managed Care and Business Development for the University of Chicago Hospitals and Faculty Practice Plan. She also served as Executive Vice President of Strategic Services for Priority Healthcare, responsible for mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures between Priority and its Health Plan, Physician Networks, and Pharmacy Clients. She was the EVP and General Manager of Aetna Specialty Pharmacy and served as President of Oncology Therapeutic Network’s Specialty Services.

In the health care sector, Ms. Shanahan’s client-base includes hospitals, faculty practice plans, ambulatory service centers, community health organizations and advocacy groups, foundations, health care providers, pharmacies, drug distribution companies, group purchasing organizations, third party logistics companies, preferred provider organizations, health care services, health plans, health care technology and drug and device manufacturers.

Ms. Shanahan has represented clients in many health care services mergers and acquisitions in the hospital, physician practice, specialty pharmacy, home infusion, revenue cycle management and health care services sectors. She has provided legal representation in the formation of physician networks, group purchasing and preferred provider organizations. She has served as General Counsel to not-for-profit, privately held and publicly traded hospitals and health care businesses. She has provided contract analysis and negotiation on behalf of Clients across the spectrum of corporate transactions, including Physician contracting with Hospitals, Health Care Services and Physician Practice Partnerships, contracting on behalf of Providers with Health Plans, Hospital Systems, Real Estate transactions, Corporate Organizations for physicians, pharmacists, hospitals, health plans, distribution clients, etc.
